Cambridge North Train Station
Location: Cambridge
Summary: To provide the steel structure and all cladding elements for a new station building, two platform stair towers and two link bridges.
Specification: Primary structural steel elements with purlins and extruded cladding rail system to take bespoke perforated cladding panels. Two staircases with balustrade to each platform tower and one internal staircase with balustrade to station building. Glazed balustrade to two link bridges.
Challenges of the task: To bring together a multi-disciplined contract with a fully bespoke perforated cladding system, the design of which is based on Cambridge mathematician John Conway’s ‘Game of Life’.
